Milan

If I have to discribe mine and Peter's trip to Milan with only 10 words, I would probably do it like this: Coffee, clothes, coctails, pasta, penne, pizza and even more pizza. Huh, did I already mention pizza? To read the whole blog post click the more button down below.

Day 1

Saturday march 5th we drove with the bus from Zurich to Milan to 3 days there. I was so excited to go to Italy because I've never been there. The drive was nice but unfortunately we had to wait more than a full hour at the Swiss–Italian border, because the police dog barked out. Probably he smelled some drugs or other illegal stuff. At the very end, all passengers had to leave the vehicle and grab their baggage so that the police was able to check the empty bus. After all the drama, the bus driver did go on and we finally arrived at Lampugnano, Milans bus station.

First we bought our metro tickets for those 3 days (around 4.20 € per day). After the underground ride to tour hotel, we checked in and had a quick rest in our room. The accomodation was well located and it only took us a 5 minute walk to the next metro station. In my point of view, it isn't necessary to book a big and luxury room only for a city trip. You can splash the money which you saved with a cheap hotel on clothes, food or drinks. Accuse to the rainy weather we hadn't done some sightseeing. Instead we explored the shopping–street Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Around 5 p.m. Peter starved and we went to a small restaurant to eat some pizza and calzone.

In the evening we took the metro. We left the underground as soon as we reached the stop Repubblica. Than we had our first typical Italian coffee in Eataly, a grocerie store with a cafe and some restaurants inside.

Day 2

We woke up very early to have enough time to do some sightseeing and more shopping. Luckily it wasn't raining so we hadn't to carry our unberellas with us. After breakfast in a cafe nearby our metro station we had a photo shoot in front of the big cathedral.

As soon as we had enough shots, we bought the entrance tickets for the dome and the dome museum. It costs only 2.00 € and all the paints, sculptures, windows even the floor were so impressive and beautiful. We spent the rest of the day with sightseeing and shopping. I totally forgot eating. The visit in the Disney store was compulsory. Everyone loves Disney and no one ever gets to old for Disney. There were soo many things I'd like to buy but everything was so expensive. So I left the store with a big bag which included two big Minnie mouse pillows for my sisters and a stitch pillow for me.

With the local metro we went to an outlet which is 10 minutes away from the city center. I strongly don't recommend to visit this shop because there was only a small variety of clothes and sizes. Before we had a powernap, me and Peter ate a calzone like snack in a mini take–a–way shop right in front of the metro station P.TA Venezia. Unfortunately me or neither Peter can not remember the restaurants name. But the food was so delicious!

For the last night before our departure back to Switzerland, we decided to have typical Italian dinner. Peter ate some spaghetti alla carbonara and I filled my tummy with gnocchi. The food wasn't soo super–hyper delicious but it was eatable. Than we drank 2 cocktails in different bars and took the underground back home.

Day 3

We visited the Catello Sforesco after our breakfast in the exact same cafe like a day before.  It's a stunning and huge castle with a beautiful park. There were also some rollercoasters but they were closed. On our way back to the cathedral, Peter and me stopped at a bakery to have our last espresso.

Around lunchtime the sun came up and we ate our last pizza in a small reastaurant nearby the shopping Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. By the way: The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen. We walked more than 1 hour and grabbed some gelato (Italian ice cream). Both of us took a lemon and raspberry ball in a corn. The taste of it was super delicious!

After the metro ride back to our hotel for grabbing our baggage, we went to the bus staiton Lampugnano. This time they weren't any problems with the bus ride and we arrived in Zurich on time.

Conclusion

I recommend you to visit Milan for around 4 days. The city is very beautiful, especially the places nearby the dome. The food was so delicious and it had a good value, even in the more expensive restaurants. A highlight was the Castello Sforesco and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. If you are in Italy eat some gelato and drink an espresso, it tastes so much better than in other countries! Unfortunately people as shop assistans, waiters and baristas were unfriendly. An other disapointment was the shopping experience. If you have enough money for expensive designer clothes, you'll love Milan, but if your budget is limited you'll not have a big variety of stores.
